Judicare supports The PFA Football Furlong at Royal Windsor Racecourse
Thousands of families joined Harry Redknapp for The PFA Football Furlong Family Fun Day at Royal Windsor Racecourse on Sunday 8th August, where the winner of the Judicare Maiden Auction Stakes was Speedfit Girl (3/1) ridden by P Robinson.
The PFA Football Furlong is the one day of the year that the sports of football and horse racing come together with jockeys wearing the respective colours of the 20 Premier League football clubs. For the first time ever, one of the Queen’s horses was given permission by Her Majesty to ride under new colours - the blue and white of Birmingham City - instead of her famous purple, red and gold colours, but was withdrawn from the Virgin Atlantic Maiden Fillies’ Stakes - won by Ellbeedee (4/1).
Horses and jockeys secure points for the teams which go towards a league table throughout the day.
Now in its fifth year, the PFA Football Furlong has previously been won by Arsenal, Wigan, Middlesbrough and Tottenham.
Neil Heaney from Judicare presented the winning cheque (Neil is in the middle with his godson Zak Hanlon) and a footballing memento to G G Margarson the owner of Speedfit Girl: "It was a wonderful day’s racing with all sorts of entertainment put on for football's players and ex-players, supporters, sponsors and partners - a chance for everyone to get together before the season really gets under way. For us it was a great opportunity for us to support the PFA and to fly the flag for what we do here at Judicare.”
Mr Harmoosh (9/4f) won the Givemefootball.com Handicap; Ishbelle (9/4f) was victorious in the Ossie & Hutch Memorial Fillies’ Auction Nursery Handicap while Urban Space (11/4) took the Case Security Handicap. Bob’s Dreamfight (9/2) won the Kick It Out Handicap.
